Holding the Line at Champs Rolle

Holding the Line at Champs Rolle

Wisconsin, US

“Holding the Line at Champs Rolle” is a WWII winter field reenactment focused on the defense of Bastogne during December 1944. Hosted by C Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd PIR, 101st Airborne, the event recreates the fighting and defensive operations around Champs Rolle, where paratroopers dug in against encircling German forces.

The event takes place on over 250 acres of varied terrain, including open fields, dense woods, hedgerows, and a circular road network. A central area designated as “Bastogne” will host period camping, headquarters, and logistical operations. While the event emphasizes an Airborne impression, most ETO Allied and German impressions are welcome.

Participants can expect a structured chain of command, field communications, vehicle movement (weather permitting), winter conditions, and hot meals delivered to the field.
