Windsor Castle is a royal residence in Berkshire. It is known for its long association with the English and later British royal family and for its architecture. The original castle was built in the 11th century after the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror.

When you visit the castle be sure to look at some of these highlights:

  • Queen Mary's dollhouse: a dollhouse with 1500 contributions of the finest artists, craftsmen and manufacturers. It has a library with over 200 books, a wine cellar and a garden.
  • State apartments historic route: where you visit the rooms that were built for Charles II and his Queen and with beautifully painted ceilings.
  • The moat room: where you can marvel at three bronze models of the castle. The models show the castle at different times in history.

1 November - 28 February: open daily from 10am to 4.15pm
1 March - 31 October: open daily from 10am to 5.15pm
