The Burning of Quitman was an event that took place during the American Civil War on October 3, 1864, in which Union soldiers burned much of the town of Quitman, Georgia, a Confederate supply center. The Union soldiers also seized a large quantity of Confederate supplies and disrupted Confederate operations in the area. This was part of a larger campaign by Union forces to disrupt Confederate operations in Georgia and the surrounding states.
