The Battle of Resaca was a key engagement in the American Civil War that took place in Georgia in May 1864. The Union army emerged victorious, establishing a foothold in Georgia and paving the way for Sherman's "March to the Sea" campaign, which ultimately resulted in the capture of Atlanta and significant destruction in the state.
